Mechanical Engineering graduate student Mahdieh Tanha has been selected as the winner of the Harlo Mervyn Mork Excellence in Teaching Award for 2017. She was selected in recognition of her willingness to go above and beyond what is expected of a graduate student involved in the delivery of the Integrative Studies Labs on campus.

While working on his Master of Science degree at Michigan State, Harlo, a Grad student, was killed in an explosion when distilling Thiophene detonated in the Chemistry lab on the 3rd floor of North Kedzie. North Kedzie previously housed the Chemistry Department. This award is given in honor and memory of Harlo.
