Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University. We pride ourselves on providing an engaging and welcoming environment for all students seeking an engineering education. Student learning is focused around fundamentals of engineering science, experiential learning, and research experiences.

It is a very exciting time in history to be a part of the engineering profession as technological advances are rapidly changing how we interact with each other and the environment. We are strongly committed to maintaining a vibrant culture of scholarship and innovation within the department. A strong design and build component of the curriculum, including 3D printing technology, enables students to bring their most creative ideas to fruition.

Please take some time to explore the many educational and research experiences the Mechanical Engineering Department has to offer. We welcome in-person visitations to showcase the growing excitement we have surrounding the department. While challenges abound, the future holds many exciting opportunities for students and faculty to work collectively for a better tomorrow.
