The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan University has 1500 undergraduate students that make up a quarter of the students in the College of Engineering. Our graduate program has over 200 students, a large number of them are working toward their PhD degree in one of four different concentrations: Biomechanics; Dynamics Systems and Controls; Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences; and Solid Mechanics, Design, and Manufacturing. We have 43 tenure-stream faculty conducting cutting-edge research with funding from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and many US Industries. This research provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students alike. We have 9 teaching faculty who are dedicated to enhancing the educational mission of the department.
